I'LL NOT BE FAR BEHIND (2008 Version)

(RKB, 1977)

(Originally from "Truth, Justice and the American Way")

(Performed by UNITED WONDER on their second album, 1979.)

1.) The carnival opened, down by the river.
They're giving balloons to the children who show down there.
"What does it mean?", Asked Garth of his mother.
"Never you mind.", was her loving reply.
Just have a good time, playing your games, down by the river.
And your life with flow through to the answer,
In time.

2.) The battered old clown was dressed up in silver.
Free balloons in his hands kept the children safe and close by.
The red one said "America". The blue one had a peace sign.
The yellow offered religion, and "love" the green sighed.
A dozen bright colors, all offered ways to save the world that day.
But all the children's eyes were on the one balloon,
That floated away.

M8.) The "Truth" balloon turned white as it headed for the sky.
Garth filled with a thrill, he shouted, "That balloon's mine."

(Instrumental)

3.) He followed her south-wind, on down the river.
The others all laughed at him as his bid their town goodbye.
These things come up sometimes, that just don't sit easy.
You find that the spirit leads your body and your mind.
He traveled the course to new lands, far south of Springfield.
Wherever truth leads me, I'll not be,
Wherever truth leads me, I'll not be
Far behind.
