EUROCLYDON

(Written by Rob Bolton, 1989)(From Acts chapter 27: Euroclydon is the name of a storm.)

1.) The little man in irons warned, "There'll be danger where we're going." / I said "We cannot winter here, and besides, the southwind's blowin." / "Sailing close to Crete, we'll just take it slow, still reach Rome before November." / But when we set sail, the horizon changed, and we heard the sounds of thunder.

2.) EUROCLYDON was rising in her power. / Came on this ship, and she took control like a final judgement hour. / Helpless in the storm, we could only let her drive. / And when sun and moon dissappeared for days, we knew, we would not survive.

CHORUS.) Mediterranean Monster: it's a messenger from the Lord. / You cannot trust man's wisdom, and you dare not trust your sword. / Surrounded by the darkness, alone out on the sea, / But take the bread of life and sail on safely, home and free.

(Instrumental interlude, featuring guitars and storm effects)

3.) Food and water running low, all our belongings overboard. / The little man calmly told us 'bout an angel from his Lord. / Told of his sacred mission, and promised we'd all be saved. / And in the violence of the storm, he bowed his head and prayed.

4.) Well the skies began to lighten, and we spied the land at last. / But the ship ran aground and broke up, and the harbour held her fast. / Some were trying to swim for it, others clinging on to broken boards. / I just stayed close to the little man, I was clinging. . .to his Lord.

C.) CHORUS (as above.)
