1.) Wanted to write for you a story, about a place where life is better, / and explain the terms of a treaty between a sinner man and his creator. / Terms like "love", "forgiveness", repentence", "sacrifice" and "surrender", / point the way to real freedom, in a land that lasts forever.
2.) Some folks gonna tell ya, gotta grab it all now and here, / or go searching for the "undiscovered country", out on the final frontier. / But when magic turns out to be mirrors, our fragile hearts get broken. / Treasure chests turn up empty, til we hear the gospel spoken.
(first instrumental interlude, mostly strings)
3.) When your childhood dreams gave way to what some call "reality", / did you quit the hope inside you of what life's really supposed to be? / Well, don't cross out the message, written down in blood. / It's calling from the empty tomb, it's recorded in sacred word.
CHORUS.) I'll see you in the air my friend, when the final trumpet rings. / I'll meet you at the east gate, at the coming of our king. / And we'll reign in royal righteousness, restoring everything, / We're gonna be there. I'll see you in the spring.
(second instrumental interlude, strings & guitar)
MIDDLE 8.) God placed in us a special hunger for a righteous land, where our lives can have real meaning. / God placed in us a special vision of a holy place, where our sorrows can find healing. / God placed in us a special song of praise to him, from hearts full of thanksgiving. / God placed in us a special love for a faithful friend, he's been there from the beginning.
4.) So remember your redeemer lives, as you wait out this world's charade. / Hold on to his precious promises, and don't you be afraid. / He's put his light inside you, now you just let it burn. / He's gone to prepare a place for you, and someday, he'll return.
CHORUS.) As above. Repeat.
