I SHOULD HAVE DANCED WITH THAT GIRL
(RKB, 12/08)
1.) Magic moments flashing, tho' there's some I forget,
I arrive here thankful, but my few regrets
Seem personified by someone that I saw long ago.
And why I stood there frozen, well I just don't know.
C1.) I should have danced with that girl. (Dance, dance, dance, shdwtg)
I should have danced with that girl. ( " )
The band was mediocre and the scene was square,
But opportunity was definitely there.
I should have danced with that girl. ( " )
2.) I was fresh off rejection from a hot little blonde,
The type that's always just bouncin' around.
Then when the tall girl stood across from me, all dressed up in red,
Well, I doubted my salvation, and I hung my head.
C2.) I should have danced with that girl. (Dance, dance, dance, shdwtg)
I should have danced with that girl. ( " )
She probably would have laughed down at my clumsy feet,
But to get that close, well it wouldda been sweet,
I should have danced with that girl. ( " )
M8.) Moments of magic don't last forever,
As time just slips us by.
Our regrets are rarely our failures,
But the times we didn't try.
3.) She left the party early, feeling sadly declined.
My friend said, "Don' let 'er go man; are you out of your mind?"
If I met her today I would apologize,
Now when my courage gets shaky, I remember that night.
C3.) I should have danced with that girl. (Dance, dance, dance, shdwtg)
I should have danced with that girl. ( " )
Nothing need have come of it. Now I'm A-okay.
So why do I remember like it was yesterday?
I should have danced with that girl. ( " )
(repeat and fade.)
