SUMMERTIME ROCK STAR (Rkb, 1975&95)

1.) I was born in America: freedom of choice! / I play somewhere between the music and noise. / I'll be your summertime rock star. / Let's ride on the wings of a dove. / Everything's gonna be all right now. / I'll be the one that you love.

2.) How they take our minds and spin 'em around. / And when they let go we come tumblin' down. / Heads full of monkeys and monsters, humanism, and fantasy's birth. / That's where the angel of light lies to sweet children, / You know what they're worth.

A.) But with each summer the lines on our faces change. / You look in my eyes, and find the illusions. / At long last, you ask, "Where are you comin' from?" / And covered with dirt, I must reply "Earth."

B.) You look to the sky, the flying saucers are gone now. / You face the wind, the child is lost. / And cast your die far past familiar fields. / Although the local hero tried his very best, he was lost.

i.) Help me. / God can you hear me? / Please help me. / Forgive me.

ii.) Is that the cross I see? / Save me. / Lead me. / Free me!

3.) Now all that I am, and all I've received, / belongs to the one in whom I've believed. / I'll be your summertime rock star, / this time on wings from above. / Jesus, you're my song, and my lord, now. / Singing praise to the one I love.
