PRACTICAL, BIBLICAL GUIDANCE FOR FAMILIES - 4

1.) Intro - Barnabas (Son of Encouragement) Acts 4:36-17 (He gave), Acts 9:26-27 (He supported God's man, and brought unity.) Acts 11: 22-24 (He had a fruitful ministry), Acts 15:39-40 (He cared and nurtured.)

2.) Three Greek Words: a.) Protiepo - "Urge forward, toward accomplishment or victory" (usage - Acts 18:24-28) (example - Deut 1:38, 3:28, wrt Joshua) b.) Paramutheomai - "Advise, train for action" (usage - 1 Thes 2:11) (example - 2 Chron 35:2, wrt Josiah's priests) c.) Paraklesis - "Strong consolation, comfort, security" (usage - Heb 6:18-19) (example - John 14:1-3, 15:26, wrt Christ at the last supper)

3.-) Five Real People: a.) Fathers - Create an atmosphere of encouragement via: 1.) Security 2.) Forward Motion b.) Mothers - Create an atmosphere of encouragement via: 1.) Personal care 2.) Training c.) Workers - Make these people successful: 1.) customers 2.) co-workers d.) Coaches/Trainers/Teachers - Establish3: 1.) vision/identity 2.) communication 3.) 2G1B e.) Servants/Volunteers - Make the world a better place for others. And: EDIFY!!!!!!!

4.-) BUT HOW? a.) "in the law" (2 Chron 31:4) Load up on the Word. 1.) Biblically accurate - (not like 2 Sam 11:24-25, covering sin, or Psalm 64:5) 2.) Biblically overflowing. Load up with the building blocks of wisdom. 3.) Biblically identifying, that is, identifying you, your purpose, your destiny. b.) "in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6) Load up on the Lord. 1.) Christ in you provides motivation 2.) Christ in you provides discernment 3.) Christ in you provides the right spirit.
